I’m a twenty-five year old Australian traveller who gets more sick of home than I do homesick when I’m travelling. I prefer off the beaten track and least explored places, anywhere that promises an adventure. A dreamer and a writer since I was a kid, I am passionate about sharing my adventures through words and images in the hope to inspire and inform others to travel more

Trekking the Shan Hills with the Palaung People of Northern Myanmar – Travelogues

Dizzy and blurred scenes...wash it down with a cup of tea...stare into nothingness. Smoking opium is a pervasive habit amongst Konyak men in Northern Nagaland. Introduced by the British, as an apparent method of control and suppression. The aim: get the local men addicted and then maybe the colonial power would have a chance against the headhunting tribe. A cruel technique, which appears to have worked. I sat with men from Longwa village watching them heat the dried latex obtained from the poppy seeds and smoke it up in a homemade bamboo pipe, in between taking sips of strong black tea. Far from being dangerous towards me, the men's habit has unfortunately caused social problems within the community. Laziness and addiction means fields are left unattended and families struggle to generate a livelihood. For now though, the children play by the fire next to their fathers while they smoke and the habit seems unlikely to go away anytime soon . . . . #travel #india #myanmar #exploremore #roamtheplanet #natgeotravel #NGTUK #lonelyplanet #travelgram #instapassport #solotravel #nagaland #OlympusInspired #lifewelltravelled #opium #travelphotography #longwa #liveauthentic #makeportraits #openmyworld #liveforthestory #travelstoke #traveldeeper #bbctravel #northeastindia #getoutside #lonelyplanetindia #travelasia #indiapictures #lifeofadventure
Longwa village, Nagaland, split down the middle by the Myanmar-India border and a few bumpy bus and jeep rides away from the state capital. To the right of the ridgeline is Myanmar and to the left is India. It's home to some of the last remaining headhunter warriors of the Konyak tribe, an enduring addiction to opium and an interesting culture blending Christianity and traditional Animism - it was a place that I really wanted to explore and will remain a highlight of my travels for a long time to come . . . . #travel #india #travelindia #passionpassport #natgeotravel #mytinyatlas #suitcasetravels #travelstoke #lonelyplanet #travelgram #instapassport #solotravel #travelphotography #lifewelltravelled #OlympusInspired #roamtheplanet #getoutside #traveldeeper #whereisnortheast #exploremore #longwa #nagaland #lonelyplanetindia #adventureawaits #travelasia
Myanmar in 60 seconds 🇲🇲 Its difficult to squash that amount of beauty into one minute. It may be a troubled country and I met many people who thought about boycotting it, but in many ways travelling there will only help the local people more than it will the government. Going there does not mean you support the government's actions, it simply means you're curious to discover a country that is unique and diverse. I believe that travelling to a country is only going to help you understand it more than reading about it in the news ever will, so don't hesitate just because you read something somewhere at some point, go and find out for yourself. Rant over. A longer version of the video is on my blog as well, link in bio ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ #travel #myanmar #burma #traveldeeper #mytinyatlas #OlympusInspired #lifewelltravelled #lonelyplanet #travelgram #instapassport #travelstoke #passionpassport #MyMyanmar #solotravel #mandalay #inlelake #bagan #sunrise #gopro #travelvideo #getoutside #exploremore #roamtheplanet #starttheadventure #backpacking #travelasia
Happy Valentines Day (even though I think it's an overcommercialised hoax) to me and my adventures, who are, it seems, in an endless and endearing relationship. Alain de Botton once said, travel is a lot like love. And I'm not exactly sure what that means but it sounds good and I think he must be right ❤ ♡ PS I actually wish I was here right now, in reality I got up at 4.45am for a train ✌ ♡ ♡ ♡ #travel #india #travelindia #passionpassport #dametraveler #girlswhotravel # #sheisnotlost #solotravel #exploremore #roamtheplanet #starttheadventure #getoutside #womenwhotravel #lifewelltravelled #backpacking #selflove #valentinesday #mizoram #travelblogger #travelgram #instapassport
Kohima, Nagaland. On my first day in the city I walked all the way to the state museum to find it was closed, for no apparent reason. The next day was a Sunday, and being mostly Christians, the entire city was a ghost town as everyone was at church. The day after that I wanted to go to a village 20km away to have a look around, first there were no shared taxis leaving then I found a bus but there were no tickets left, so I gave up. The day after that I said, 'stuff it, I'm leaving' and took a 6am bus to Mokokchung. So yeah, I didn't really get to see much in Kohima. That doesn't mean I didn't like it though. I got to hang out with the guesthouse manager who loved talking corruption and politics (my two favourite topics) so my days weren't completely wasted. . . . #travel #india #travelindia #passionpassport #natgeotravel #mytinyatlas #suitcasetravels #travelstoke #lonelyplanet #travelgram #instapassport #solotravel #kohima #nagaland #whereisnortheast #exploremore #traveldeeper #cityscape #lonelyplanetindia #incredibleindia #adventureawaits #OlympusInspired #lifewelltravelled #roamtheplanet
It may have just been the worst road I'd ever travelled on. My knuckles were white gripping the seat in front of me as my entire body was being flung around over every rock, pothole (crater) and rut. The boys next to me started laughing every time we hit a bump and our bums left the seat and I could only do the same. But I made it to Kohima, the capital of Nagaland, just as the sun set and the view of the city sprawled over the hilltop was so beautiful . . . #travel #india #natgeotravel #suitcasetravels #travelstoke #passionpassport #mytinyatlas #lonelyplanet #travelgram #instapassport #kohima #nagaland #whereisnortheast #exploremore #traveldeeper #sunset #rgphoto #ROAMtravels #lifewelltravelled #OlympusInspired #roamtheplanet #travelindia #cityscape #lonelyplanetindia
